DRG snaps up Snake Boss from WildBear

10 August 2016

The deal is for two seasons of the show, each comprising 10x30mins runs, with second window rights for season one and full rights (excluding Australia) for season two. Snake Boss, from WildBear and Flickchicks, follows former pastry chef and mother Julia Baker, who is a professional snake catcher. It originally played on Animal Planet in Australia and internationally, and season two debuts this summer. Last week, TBI reported WildBear had tapped Essential Media’s Aussie boss, Alan Erson, to become its managing director. DRG will also represent the 6x60mins Supersize Structures, the 8x60mins The 101 Who Made the Twentieth Century, and the third season of the Baby Animals strand. Katy Cundall, DRG’s VP of factual acquisitions struck the deal with WildBear through the latter’s agent, Edwina Thring of Wild Thring Media. “WildBear continues to create must-have factual content for the international market, combining great storytelling with high-end production values,” said Cundall. “We are thrilled to be representing these new series, and welcome the opportunity to build on our relationship with the WildBear/Wild Thring team. “I have every expectation that these shows will be well received: Baby Animals in the Wild for example has already been sold to Italy [Sky Italia], Poland [Canal], New Zealand [Choice], Spain [Multicanal Iberia], China [Beijing Continental], Thailand [Next Step], Nat Geo Wild and Netflix.”
